UI Developer






We are looking for 2 UI developers.





Reporting to the Manager of Systems Development, the UI Software Developer (UD) is responsible for activities around the development and support of a wide range of software applications many of which are mission critical. The UD is an experienced IT practitioner with excellent technical skills, has a customer-service focus, and works well both independently and in project teams.

The UD participates in all phases of the software lifecycle: team project planning, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

This position is based in Victoria BC and is a 1-year term position.  

Duties and Responsibilities

The EPBC UI Software Developer:


Provides a strong emphasis on design and user experience
Provides analysis, design, programming, implementation, and support of software projects.
Actively participates in the analysis of business needs and requirements.
Translates system specifications into software application code and takes appropriate measures to ensure quality.
Develops implementation plans with milestones and participates in technical communications with stakeholders.
Develops deployment plans and co-ordinates transition to operational and maintenance phases.
Designs and develops software application user interfaces.
Documents programming code and support processes.

Undertakes other tasks as required, such as:

Train end-user staff in the use of implemented systems.
Assist with testing of developed systems.
Make presentations.
Identify and evaluate new development tools and methods.





Qualifications and Skills

Minimum qualifications and skills for this position:


Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
Five years of computing experience in systems analysis and development.
Demonstrated skills in leading systems development projects.
Strong attention to detail and an emphasis on visual design and user experience
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience HTML, JavaScript/Typescript, and CSS
Demonstrated experience with JavaScript frameworks and libraries like React, Angular, or VueJS
Demonstrated experience with server-side technologies such as NodeJS, .Net Core
Strong UI/UX design skills
Experience using Agile development approach
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and tasks with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written communication and problem-solving skills.
Initiative, discretion, and sound judgement.
Highly oriented to customer service and results.
Ability to deliver quality results on time and to client satisfaction.
 Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of co-workers and clients.

Desirable qualifications and skills for this position

Experience working within a post-secondary or government environment.  Candidates with relevant experience outside of these environments may be considered
Experience working with Google Analytics (GA)
Experience with mobile web and client development



 


The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 commensurate with experience.
